If you’re looking to extend your swimming season to the entire year, and/or don’t want or can’t install a solar swimming pool heater on your roof, heat pumps and gas pool heaters are just the solution your need. Alternatively, you can integrate heat pumps and gas pool heaters with solar pool heaters, to create a hybrid solution that ensures consistent water temperature, all year long. The solar pool heater can be used as the primary, most economically and environmentally efficient water heating solution, with the heat pump or gas pool heater adding the few extra degrees you need to reach your ideal (and often necessary, in the case of therapeutic or public pools), water temperature.
Here’s a closer look at heat pumps and gas pool heaters, and why they provide excellent solutions for extending your swim season, and ensuring your pool water is exactly how you like it, 12 months out of the year.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are an alternative to solar when a constant year round temperature is required. A heat pump is similar to a domestic air conditioner or refrigerator. When it turns on, energy held in the surrounding air is absorbed into the refrigerant gas circulating through the unit. This heat is then transferred by a heat exchange process to your pool water which is also circulating through the unit. The result is pool water at exactly the temperature you require – 12 months of the year, at a very low operating cost.
Heliocol’s heat pumps are made using robust and reliable components, enabling you to enjoy enhanced performance and a longer lifespan, when heating your pool. Our heat pumps can be retrofitted onto your pool’s existing filtration system. Rust-proof and non-corrosive, the heat pumps’ efficiently use energy to heat (and cool) your pool, without adding excessive noise to your relaxing pool environment.
Your trained Heliocol consultant can advise on the correct size and model heat pump to best suit your needs, budget and pool size. An assessment of the approximate running costs of your heat pump can also be provided, before you make your decision. We can also help you decide where the best location for your heat pump is to enable optimized air flow and superior performance, without fail.
Gas Pool Heaters
Gas pool heaters have long been recognized as a quick and reliable pool heating system. Their reputation for heating pools faster, while consuming less energy, precedes them. A correctly sized gas heater can heat a domestic pool in under 8 hours. This means you can decide in the morning that you want to host an evening pool party and by the time guests arrive, your pool is warm and inviting. And, thanks to low flow rates and low NOx emissions, these rust-proof water heaters are great for your pool, and the environment.
A gas pool heater will usually be installed alongside your filtration system, and can even be installed alongside a solar pool heater, allowing for the two to work in tandem, with the former providing the bulk of your water heating needs, and the latter adding a boost of warm water, when a few added degrees are needed, or the sky has been particularly overcast, for longer than is desired.
Ask your authorized Heliocol service provider about installing a gas pool heater at your home, to save time, money, and frustration, while extending your swimming season, to the entire year. Connection to your swimming pool is usually an easy job for the installer. Not all gas pool heaters are the same, so be sure to ask about things like correct sizing, ratings, country of origin, estimated running costs, warranty, and backup service.
Commercial Heat Pumps
Our professional series of pool heat pumps are an energy efficient alternative for commercial pool properties including pools for multi-family housing units, resorts, councils, resorts, hotels and gymnasiums.
Because heat pumps don’t rely on fossil fuels to heat the water, they are a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly option for larger commercial pools.
Gas Pool Heaters
Gas pool heating systems are a quick and reliable heating option for commercial swimming pools in any climate.
Gas pool heaters are particularly useful for heating pools on demand. A large pool can be heated for a special event or request on short notice, operating only as needed. Alternatively, gas heaters can be used in conjunction with solar pool heaters or pool heat pumps to top off pool temperatures in the coldest months of the year.
