Cameron Wrathall, the manager at the Gingin Aquatic Centre sought a cost-effective solution to provide a warmer pool for swim clubs in the morning and to increase patronage through a longer opening season.
With funding in hand, in part from the Stronger Communities Program and the Gingin Super Seals S wimming Club, Wrathall approached Edward Pontague at Heliocol Solar Pool Heating’s Western Australia office for a quote to heat a 550,000 litre capacity multi-use facility.
Heliocol was challenged with completing the job in time to have a water sample submitted to the health
department seven days prior to the pool opening. The job was completed within four days of the materials arriving onsite; two days ahead of schedule.
“I found the quoting, installation, operation and after-service to be of an exceptional standard,” said Wrathall. “Edward and his installation crew installed the system within the time frame allocated which was a tight
schedule to allow the pool to open earlier than in previous seasons.”
The job was completed using 27 HC50 Heliocol panels, 32 HC40 Heliocol panels and 215 metres of pipe.
The Gingin Aquatic Centre was pleased with the results. “The solar heating system made the aquatic centre more usable for longer periods of time and comfortable for all patrons, which equated to more patronage throughout the season,” Wrathall said. “I found the system easy and trouble-free for all staff to operate.”
